Getting SVS Lashes | My Experience

My natural lashes have always been short and pretty straight, and for years, I've been compensating for my lack of lashes with liquid liner - I just feel naked without it.

So when the opportunity came up to get SVS* lashes with Nouveau Lashes in time for Eid, I was all over it!

I love Nouveau Lashes - I've been using their strip lashes for years and had their LVL Lash Enhancement in the past - they're so good at what they do and the quality of their products and services are bar none. So when they brought out their SVS lash treatment, I was really keen to give it a go in comparison to their LVL (Length, Volume and Lift) treatment and see the difference in my lashes.

SVS stands for Speed, Volume and Style and essentially, they are semi permanent eyelash extensions. I've always been apprehensive about eyelash extensions as they can be really damaging towards your natural lashes but Nouveau Lashes created SVS to provide eyelash extensions in a way that is conditioning and protective towards your natural lashes.

I had my SVS treatment at Shumailas, which is a chain of salons across Essex. I've had treatments at Shumailas before including my Dermalogica Biosurface Peel (review here) and my Nouveau Lashes LVL Lash Enhancement (review here), and have always had a great experience. The staff are always friendly, professional and attentive to my needs and are very good at what they do. I had my SVS treatment at their newly opened branch in Loughton, and the lash technician who carried out the treatment, Nadia, was amazing!

The SVS treatment works by isolating individual lashes using tweezers, and then applying individual eyelash extensions to your natural lashes. After the treatment, a conditioning serum is applied to your lashes to keep them protected and healthy.

You can go for either an open eye or a feline look with the SVS treatment, but I went for something called 'Russian Volume', which are thicker and more voluminous. Although they are more dramatic that I would usually go for, I got my SVS treatment done in time for Eid so went for really glamorous lashes for the occasion.

Here's a brief summary of the treatment:

Effect: Volume, Length
Best Results For: Short, straight lashes
Length of treatment : 45 minutes to 2 hours (depending on your natural lashes and the look you want to achieve
Aftercare : Stay away from water and steam for 24 hours, comb through with a mascara wand daily and avoid oil based products.
Infills needed? : Every 3-4 weeks if desired
How long do they last? : 6-8 weeks
Cost : Starts from £55, but prices vary depending on the salon and the location

Thank you Nouveau Lashes and Shumailas for my SVS lashes - I love them!

Have you tried any lash treatments lately? If so, which ones and how did you get on with them?

Stepping into Spring

The clocks have gone forward and by the looks of it, there are lots of sunny days ahead (fingers crossed). To celebrate the arrival of the new season, I'm going for a slightly different post today where I show you how I'm switching up my wardrobe to get ready to step into Spring.

As much as I'm trying to incorporate more colour into my wardrobe, I love a good LBD, so I decided to pair this dress from Primark with some of this year's SS17 trends to put together an outfit ready for the warmer weather.

Although the outfit is simple, from the floral embroidery on the dress to the white Lottie* bag from Koko Couture's Spring collection, I love the details that pull this look together.

When deciding which accessories to pair with this almost all black outfit, I knew I wanted to be a bit playful and add some personality to this look. Just as I was switching up for wardrobe for Spring, Koko Couture got in touch and kindly asked me if I'd like to try out of the bags from their new Spring collection and honestly, I was spoilt for choice - the collection is beautiful!

Koko Couture Lottie

Typically, I'm someone who goes for black bags because they go with everything, but after seeing the collection from Koko Couture, I was inspired to go for something different. I went for the Lottie* clutch which retails at £18. This soft faux leather bag contains one main compartment but has a small zip pocket as well as two small pockets on the inside. What I love about this bag is that it's versatile, you can either wear it as a clutch, or you can attach the detach gold chain strap it comes with for more practical wear. Although I went for a white bag, the Lottie comes in various different colours and you can find it (with many others from the Spring collection) here, as well as in store in some Topshop stores.

Koko Couture Lottie

I finished off the outfit with my beloved Cartier Santos 100 which has beautiful baby pink leather strap, black chelsea boots and my blue denim jacket because it's not warm enough to go without one yet.

That's all from me for now. I hope you enjoyed this post - I know it's a bit different but if you'd like to see more fashion related posts, let me know.
A massive thank you to Koko Couture for letting me style this lovely bag, and to Anneka from www.annekaphotography.co.uk for helping me with the pictures!

How are you stepping into Spring? Are there any trends you're currently loving?

Threads Beauty Lashes | Review

In personal experience, I think a good pair of false lashes are hard to get right, which is why I'm loyal to the lash brands that I know and I love (what's up #lashgang <3) but when I received the Sex Kitten* & Emiloo* Lashes from Threads Beauty, I was immediately impressed by how wearable and versatile they were!

Threads Beauty Lashes, Sex Kitten and Emiloo

These lashes are from the Angel Lashes collection which retail at £9 per set. Admittedly, these lashes are a bit 'louder' than I'm used to, but I was surprised to find that the individual strands were still light, which is great as you can wear them both, in a day time or evening look.

Both of the lash sets are very light once applied and they have a tailor-made flexible lash band to ensure they are comfortable when worn for longer lengths of time. I also really like the concept that the range is handmade by the brand and that they were fragrance and latex free. The bands on these are really thin which is great as they don’t weigh your eyes down at all and they feel really natural.

Each pair of lashes comes with a handy adhesive glue and I was surprised by how good the glue was! I don't usually use the glue that comes in false lash sets but after letting the glue set for 30 seconds, the lashes were perfectly in place and didn't budge for the rest of the day. To add to that, I've found the Sex Kitten and Emiloo lashes really uncomfortable to wear which was surprising considering how bold both sets are.

Threads Beauty's lashes are currently available online through their website but they will be launching their coffee and beauty concept store, Threads & Co, in High Street Kensington, London this May.

I'll be attending the store launch, so if you will be too, let me know!

Have you ever tried Threads Beauty lashes before? If so, which ones and what did you think?

Prestige Flowers | Luxury Bouquets For Your Loved Ones

There's just something very special about receiving fresh flowers, so when I opened the door to be greeted by this gorgeous bouquet from Prestige Flowers*, I was over the moon!

Prestige Flowers, Luxury Bouquet

The gorgeous flowers were from Prestige Flowers' luxury range and the bouquet consisted of a mixture of pink roses, white daisies, gerberas and chrysanthemums and arrived perfectly packaged in a large monochrome box (just as aesthetically pleasing as the bouquet itself), with plenty of breathing space for the flowers.

Prestige Flowers, Luxury Bouquet

The flowers were delivered in great time and were delivered fresh; I've heard some stories about people having bad experiences with bouquet delivery services where the flowers haven't been in their best shape (or worse, dead..) or that the bouquet that was delivered looks nothing like it did on the website...So it's really reassuring to know that I haven't nothing but a great experience with Prestige Flowers.

Aside from the bouquet, the box also contained a few vouchers, a cute note and a flower care guide, which are all the little details that complete the package, and each order comes with a free box of chocolates, which really is the icing on the cake.

Prestige Flowers, Luxury Bouquet

Overall, I'm delighted with the flowers and the service and I will definitely be ordering from Prestige Flowers again... with International Women's Day and Mother's Day just around the corner, a luxury bouquet from Prestige Flowers is definitely worth looking into.

Here is a link to their Mother's Day bouquets: https://www.prestigeflowers.co.uk/mothers-day-flowers

...And if you're not buying flowers for a loved one, there's nothing wrong with buying flowers for yourself :)

Have you ever tried Prestige Flowers? What other gift ideas do you have in mind for Mother's Day?

OGX Kukui Oil Range | Review

If you're familiar with me or my blog, you may have realised by now that I'm a sucker for trying out new haircare products, but I know as well as anyone that finding products that work well for your hair type isn't always as easy as you'd like it to be. Recently, I've been treating my hair to the Kukui Oil Shampoo and Conditioner by OGX Beauty and my hair has been loving it!

I've been a fan of OGX haircare for years and have tried out a handful of their ranges but this is the first time that I've tried out the Kukui Oil range. This shampoo and conditioner duo is formulated to
hydrate your hair & eliminate frizz, sounds like a win win to me (especially considering how dry and naturally textured my hair is)!

This range centres around the oil from the Hawaiian Kukui Nut Tree, which is really hydrating and locks in moisture as well as leaving the hair glossy and lightweight. The shampoo & conditioner are quite thick in terms of consistency but they don’t weigh down the hair. While I've been using the Kukui Oil range, my hair has   looking and feeling a lot healthier than it usually does and feels clean, bouncy and silky smooth - it works really well if your hair is quite dry and you're prone to frizz and flyaways.

As a brand, I think OGX are great & have a lot to offer to suit different hair types. It's nice to know that you can get high quality products, which make your hair feel fabulous without the salon sized price tag. The shampoo and conditioner retail at £6.99, which is pretty reasonable considering you get  385ml of product per bottle. If you have coloured hair or have an irritable scalp, it's nice to know that this range is SLS free. Overall, this shampoo and condition get a big thumbs up from me, and I'm looking forward to trying out the Kukui Oil Hydrating Oil and Curl Cream at some point.

Have you tried this range from OGX, or do you have another one you usually go for? Which ones your favourite?

Spectrum Collections | Marbleous Brushes

This post has been a long time coming and it's all about the gorgeous 'Marbleous' collection by Spectrum, who are famous for their creating the most Instagram-worthy brushes! I was looking to replace my make up brushes for quite a while before I invested in White Marbleous collection, which I had been lusting over for months, so when they had their Pink Wednesday (or Black Friday if you're not a mer-babe or a unicorn) sale, I was all over it and placed my order as soon as I got the chance.

The White Marbleous collection consists of 12 beautiful brushes, with white, grey and rose gold detailing - like seriously, just look at them - aren't they just a bloggers dream?
The set consists of the five flawless face brushes, and seven smaller brushes for detailing your eyes, brows and lips. Here's a round up of the brushes and what you can use them for:

A00- Luxe Powder- Ideal for applying loose or compact powder for setting your makeup all over your face, this is one of my favourite brushes in the collection.
A02- Angled Foundation- Before I discovered beauty blenders, I used to apply my foundation using brushes similar to this and after using this brush, I may start doing it more often. It gives you such a nice, even finish and easily buffs the foundation onto your skin.
A05- Precision Brush- This brush can be used for all sorts, but I like using it for cream contouring or even adding a flush of colour to my cheeks.
C02- Flat Top Contour- If I'm using a powder contour kit, I always reach for this brush, which really helps you achieve that flawless contour that a lot of us don't naturally have.
C07- Luxe Tapered Sculptor- I'd say this is quite a multi-purpose brush, but I personally use it for either bronzer or blush. It would also work very well to set your under eye concealer with a powder, and for 'baking' if you're into that technique.

A07- Stubby Shader- I'm not quite sure where this name came from, but this brush works very well for apply your base shadow.
A12- Fluffy Pencil- This brush is one of the ones that I reach for the most, and I think it's amazing for blending out eyeshadow on the outer corners of your eyes.
A13- Short Smudge- This one's great for applying product the lash line and waterline, for a sexy, sultry and smudged look.
A14- Brow Definer- Although this brush is amazing for making sure your brows are on fleek, I don't do much to my brows, so I much prefer using this for gel liner and I love that the brush is multi-functional.
A15- Lip Definer- I'd say that everyone needs to have a lip definer brush, especially if you're going for a bold lip.
B05- Luxe Blender- I use this brush for so many things, whether I'm applying my highlight, blending my eyeshadow or buffing in my concealer. I love things that are multi functional and the B05 brush ticks all the boxes.
B06- Tall Tapered Blender- This one is a must-have for blending shadows. It's so effortless and helps you achieve the looks you're looking for.

So what are my overall thoughts on the brushes? I have honestly fallen in love with them!
At first, I was really hesitant about using them because they were almost too pretty and I didn't want to ruin that, but since I've been using them, they've become a staple in my everyday make up routine. The brushes are beautifully designed, really high quality, extremely aesthetically pleasing and they're vegan and cruelty free. In terms of pricing, these brushes don't come cheap...the set usually retails for £64.99, which I know isn't up everyones street but when I saw them on offer, I just had to have them because you'd be kind of silly not to take advantage.

Have you tried any brushes from Spectrum Collections? Which ones are your favourites?

Slimming Solutions Teatox | Review

Before you start rolling your eyes, hear me out...

I know there's a lot of speculation around bloggers who rave about slimming teas and make claims about how much weight they've lost etc ... we all know that the main and most effective way to lose weight and keep it off is by maintaining a healthy lifestyle, having a balanced diet, getting enough sleep at night and incorporating more exercise into your routine...so when I received the Slimming Solutions Teatox* at an event I went to recently, I was in two minds about whether or not it's something I wanted to openly talk about.

However, it isn't fair to judge a book by it's cover (or a teatox by the mixed opinions that everyone has about them) and I wanted to give the Slimming Solutions Detox Teas a fair shot and share my thoughts with you.

The Teatox consists of two sets of tea: a Daytime Blend (28 bags which include ingredients such as Oolong, Siberian Ginseng, Fennel and Lemongrass) & an Evening Blend (14 bags which consist of a mixture of Senna Leaves, Fenugreek seeds, Peppermint and Liquorice).

The concept behind the Teatox is to detox the body and reduce bloating...it does contain Senna leaves and can have a laxative effect on your body depending on your diet and lifestyle, but it isn't something I personally had a massive issue with.  I personally found that the tea helped me to feel less bloated (especially around the time of the month when everyone seems to bloat), more energised and generally fuller for longer, keeping those naughty cravings at bay.

This Teatox is contains natural ingredients and doesn't have any artificial additives or sugars, which is great because it's not something I want to be consuming. If you do prefer a sweeter tea though, honey is a great (and natural!) option to consider.

In terms of slimming and weight loss,  this is down to a number of things and I don't personally feel like tea can help you burn fat and lose weight. I've improved my eating habits and have been focusing on my physical wellbeing lately, so I have noticed a slight shift in weight but I can't make dramatic claims say that it's all down to the tea.

I have enjoyed drinking the tea, but I wouldn't say that the reason behind is that is because I had dramatic weight loss results or anything...I believe that weight loss is an ongoing and longterm journey - as much as you may want a quick fix sometimes, crash diets and relying on solely on detox teas or weight loss products isn't a sensible solution.

I've enjoyed this tea as a compliment to my healthier diet and lifestyle and I like the fact that I've felt less bloated and that internally, my body has felt more calm and cleansed while I've been drinking this.

Have you tried the Slimming Solutions Teatox? What are your thoughts on detox teas? Let me know down in the comments below.

KeraStraight Protein Mask | Review

If you know anything about me, you will know that haircare is something that has always been important to me, and since I've had my balayage, that has been even more so. I'm always on the hunt for products that will help to revive my hair and help it look & feel in a much better condition than it's been in recently...

I've been using the KeraStraight Protein Mask for the last couple of months and my hair has been loving it! Formulated with a blend of hydrolysed wheat proteins, the mask has been designed to repair and reconstruct your hair, and in personal experience, it has transformed my dry and damaged locks to shinier and much healthier looking/feeling hair.

I've been using this Protein Mask on a weekly basis as a deep treatment mask. I apply it into my hair after my shampoo & conditioner and leave it on for 5-10 minutes (or as long as possible) before rinsing and allowing my hair to naturally dry and I've noticed a visible difference in the condition of my hair.

The mask itself is super lightweight, which is great as it absorbs easily into the hair without being too heavy, and a little bit goes a long way. However, the pot contains 100ml of product, which for £25, is a lot more expensive than I would usually spend on haircare but KeraStraight is a salon quality brand and the condition of my hair shows that it's an effective product that has substantially improved the condition of my coloured/dry/damaged hair.
You can find the KeraStraight Protein Mask here if you want to have a look for yourself.

Have you tried any KeraStraight products? What were your thoughts?

Happy New Year | 17 Goals for 2017

Hello and Happy New Year!

I hope 2016 was a good year for you and that 2017 is even better. To kick things off, I thought I'd set myself some goals/resolutions in the first blogpost of the new year.

Here goes...

1) Focus on myself
This one may seem a bit vague but I want to make 2017 my year of 'self love'. Self love can mean many different things to different people, but for me, it's anything from working towards looking & feeling more put together more often to doing more of what's best for me and makes me happy. Typically, I'm someone who puts others before myself but it's just as important to make time for yourself and that's something I need to work on.

2) Do more, think less
Self doubt is one of the things I struggle with the most and because I spend too much time worrying about things, I've let it get in the way and missed out on numerous opportunities because a silly little voice in my head got the best of me. I'm not letting it stand in my way anymore.
Remember, you only fail if you don't try.

3) Find my work-life balance
Since I was thrown into a very hands-on internship turned full time job, I struggled to find the balance between my professional and personal life and as a result, YouTube/blogging slipped on list of priorities and I wasn't anywhere near as consistent as I would have liked. Now that things are more settled, that's going to change...

4) Progress in my professional life
Although my work life does take up the majority of my time, I work hard and really enjoy what I do, so I want to make things bigger and better and just progress with what I'm doing.

5) Create kickass content
Content is a massive part of my day job, and considering how important my channel and my blog are to me, it would be silly not to implement that and create awesome content and lots of it. I'm working on my schedule right now and I've set myself a bunch of goals and I'm really excited to work towards them.
2017 is going to be my YouTube/Blog year and I can't wait to kick things off!

6)  Engage more
My lack of work-life balance has resulted in me really struggling to stay engaged online, whether that's posting on Instagram, engaging with others on Twitter, or even liking/commenting on other people's content. I want to take a bit more time every day to work on this and become more involved in the blogging community.

7) Work towards a healthier lifestyle
A healthy lifestyle doesn't necessarily mean signing up to a gym membership or start training for a marathon - It's a mix of a healthy mindset as well as a healthy physical life. I want to improve my sleeping pattern, work on my dietary intake and increase my physical exercise. The smallest steps lead to a bigger difference in the long run and I want to be happier and confident within my self, both on the inside and out.

8) Read more
I genuinely enjoy reading, so it's a shame that I haven't made enough time to get caught up in a good book lately. This year, I want to read a lot more. Do you have any book recommendations?

9) Take more photos
Photography has always been something I've been passionate about and stupidly, I've not been taking anywhere near as many photos as I could've/should've/would've. I want to take lots more photos and captures lots more memories this year, whether the photos are of other people, scenery or even of myself.

10) Save up
A few extra pennies (or pounds) in the bank never hurt anybody. I want to seriously work on my frugality this year.

11) Be more spontaneous
Wouldn't it be nice to wake up once in a while and think 'let's do this today'...and actually do it?! Rather than spending lots of time planning things that usually fall through, I want to have the excitement of making spontaneous decisions and want to create awesome memories in the process.

12) Call the shots
Rather than taking a backseat and waiting for other people to make the first move, I want to be more proactive and the first step. Pushing ourselves to do something new could lead to so many new adventures.

13) Learn conversational Spanish
I've always enjoyed learning languages and in December, I decided to randomly start learning Spanish and brush up on my French, and turns out I'm really enjoying it! I'd love to be conversational in Spanish by the end of the year, and potentially learn another language on the side!

14) Build my 2017 Happy Jar
The Happy Jar is something that I'm a massive advocate of and it basically works on the basis of collecting memories of whatever makes you happy, in the jar. This could be anything from an invitation from an awesome event you've been to, train/plane tickets from a special trip you've been on or even something random that reminds you of someone or something special. Then, at the end of the year, you can reflect on the wonderful memories the year had in store for you.

15) Get organised
I need to procrastinate less and organise myself to be a lot more productive outside of work and with my channel/blog. Now I have a beautiful, sparkly, rose gold planner to help me do so ^.^

16) Step out of the comfort zone
Whether it's clothing or make up, I think we're all guilty of owning a lot more than we actually wear. For example, I am a self confessed lipstick hoarder, yet I still reach for the same couple of shades. This year, I want to be a lot more adventurous with my personal style and make up choices, and even in general.

17)  Stay positive
Remember to see the silver lining in all the situations, make the most of them and live in the moment. Life's too short!

I hope 2017 is an amazing year for all of us! What goals/resolutions do you have in mind for the new year?
