NYX Lip Lingerie Liquid Lipsticks | Review & Swatches

The NYX Lip Lingerie Liquid Lipsticks finally arrived in the UK some time last week and everyone went crazy for them...including myself!
At first, I was really unsure of which shades to go for... the swatches on the website were fairly similar and I wasn't sure which tones would be suitable for my skin tone, but in the end, I settled for Bedtime Flirt, Embellishment and Teddy. A few days later, I placed a second order for the liquid lipsticks and this time, I opted for Exotic and Ruffle Trim.
Here are my thoughts :

Bedtime Flirt is a beautiful pinky shade which has peach undertones in it and I think it's a lovely every day nude. On my skin tone, its slightly on the lighter side but it's wearable. If you think it might wash you out a little, its worth pairing it with a slightly darker lip liner.
Exotic is one of my absolute favourites! I would describe it and being a muted brick-red/warm mahogany and it's definitely one of the bolder shades in the collection. I think it's so flattering on my complexion and I'm glad I managed to get my hands on it!
Embellishment is a bit different from all the other shades in the collection - it's a purple shade with grey undertones and I think its a brave choice but I'm going to find a way to make it work for me.
Ruffle Trim is like a darker, more coral toned version of Bedtime Flirt - it's a really pretty and really easy to wear. I think this shade would suit a lot of different skin tones.
Lastly, Teddy is a gorgeous darker nude. It has a real chocolate brown vibe to it and I think it's brave, but it looks amazing on!

The Lip Lingerie's are described as having a 'weightless, plush matte' finish and to an extent, I agree. In terms of application, they feel really creamy and then dry to a matte finish after a few seconds but in terms of the formula, I don't think they're too different from the NYX soft matte lip creams.

The Lip Lingerie's retail at £6.50 and I think they're really affordable, especially if you're on a budget. As with all of the other NYX products that I've tried so far, I think they're really good value for money and I've found that they're really long lasting on the lips as well.

Some people have had mixed reviews on the product and have claimed that they apply really patchy and are extremely drying on the lips, but I personally haven't experienced that.
I exfoliate and moisturise my lips before any lipstick application (especially if I'm using a liquid lipstick) and I find that it makes a massive difference! Definitely something to consider if you don't do it already.

Have you tried out the NYX Lip Lingerie Liquid Lipsticks? Which shades did you go for and what were your thoughts?

Bloggers Hangout | #BLFW 2016

Earlier this week, I headed down to the Provision Studios in Hoxton for Bloggers Fashion Week (#BLFW), which was hosted by The Bloggers Hangout and honestly, I had such an amazing time meeting various bloggers and brands, some of which, I hadn't heard of before!

As a blogger, it's always interesting to discover new brands and what they have to offer, and BLFW showcased numerous brands which varied from Beauty to Fashion to Lifestyle. There was even a fashion show, which showcased designs from Da Silva London, Jones & Jones, Sarvin and XSazia!
Here are some of the brands I came across:

Thumbs Up Nails

A lot of you already know this but I am the laziest person in the world when it comes to doing my nails! I just don't have the patience and even if I do, I find that something always chips or smudges! So when I came across Thumbs Up Nails, I was really intrigued and after trying the nail wraps out myself, I was blown away by how quick and easy the process was! All you have to do is choose a design (and there were so many gorgeous prints to pick from), stick the wrap onto your nail and file away the excess - SIMPLES!

L.A.B²
I'm a sucker for a good set of make up brushes, and when I came across L.A.B² , I was really impressed! The brushes are incredibly soft, super sleek, the packaging is amazing and what I also love about them is the fact that they are affordable - you can buy them in Superdrugs! I was really kindly given a couple of brush sets to try and I'm also really looking forward to trying out the blending sponge - I've always heard amazing things about make up sponges and beauty blenders, but I've never tried them out properly myself - Watch this space!

STVDIO 5

...They look delicious, right? Imagine the look on my face when I realised they're not actually cakes! STVDIO 5 specialises in 100% Vegan products, ranging from haircare, skincare to all things bath and body. The company is completely cruelty free and all their ingredients are locally sourced. What I liked the most about this brand is that 1) It has a lot of quirk and character, 2) Everything smelled amazing and 3) There's something for everyone. I'm really looking forward to trying out their powdered face masks at some point, which can be used with honey, milk or yoghurt, to really pamper the skin!

MONU Skincare

As I've mentioned on my blog before, skincare is so important! MONU specialises in professional skincare and what makes the brand stand out for me, is the fact that they colour code their products for different skin types - for example, the pink range is specifically for hydration whereas the orange range has been designed for dull skin. I think this is so unique and so helpful for people who aren't sure which products would be best suited for their skin. I'm really intrigued by this brand and I'll keep you posted on how I get on with some of their products.

 Kenneth Turner

If you know anything about me, you know I'm really into burning candles and Kenneth Turner had some of the most beautiful scents, which varied from being fresh, fruity and floral. They also specialise in lotions, room perfumes and homeware, which would make amazing luxury gifts! I left with one of their room colognes in the scent Soireé, which I think is a lovely spring scent and I can't wait to make my room smell amazing.

Timeless Truth

I have heard a lot of amazing things about Timeless Truth in the past but I've never gotten around to trying them out myself. For those of you who don't know, Timeless Truth specialise in sheet masks and as a lot of you will know, sheet masks are generally difficult to get a hold of in the UK. My skin is in need of TLC at the moment and I'm really looking forward to trying out their masks, particularly the Bio Cellulose Apple Stem Cell Mask, which is supposed to be like magic for your skin.

Berry White

At the event, I also discovered an organic drinks brand called Berry White. I think a lot of people have the misconception that organic and sugar free drinks will compromise on the taste, but I was pleasantly surprised to discover how nice the Berry White drinks were! The drinks are made of a half and half formula of organic fruit juice and water and are available as sparkling drinks in cans and still drinks in bottles. They came in a variety of flavours, including Pomegranate & Blueberry, Peach & Goji Berry, Cranberry & Guava and Lemon & Ginger.

Other Brands
BLFW 2016 was jam packed with so many amazing brands including:
  • Paul Mitchell and Hair Tools, who had beauty bars set up to pamper and transform peoples hair
  • Magnitone, who were showing off their newest Barefaced Cleansing Brush (which I already own and will hopefully be reviewing soon)
  • Jurlique, who showcased various skincare products and kindly gifted me a sample of their Rose Body Oil
  • The Curl Company, who specialise in an amazing range of haircare products for all of us curly haired girls!
  • Dollys, who design jewellery and crystal shoes, made with precious metals and 925 sterling silver
  • Zeo Drinks, who had some of the most delicious lightly carbonated soft drinks, which come in various flavours including Peach & Grapefruit, Zesty Lime, Blood Orange & Citrus, Mixed Berry and Cloudy Lemon (which was a personal fave!)
  • Bravura London, who kindly gifted me samples of their First Cleanse Oil and Revitalising Ginseng Toner to try
  • Weleda, who's Skin Food I'm really looking forward to try
and so many more!

It was so lovely to meet so many new bloggers and brands that I hadn't come across before.
Thank you to The Bloggers Hangout for organising such a a great event and thank you to all the brands who I had the chance to meet!
I will be doing more in-depth product reviews of some of the samples I received over the next few weeks, once I've had a chance to properly use them, so keep your eyes peeled!

Disclaimer : This post contains PR samples. Anything marked with a * was either sent or gifted to me by companies to try out and possibly review. I only accept products that I think I will use, and that I only mention things that I would actually recommend to you. All opinions are 100% my own.

Brand Focus | Supernatural Beauty

Skincare is SO important and I think it's one of those things that a lot of people overlook or don't pay enough attention to!
I've been pretty good with my skincare off late, but with the colder weather in recent months, my skin has just become dry, dehydrated and in desperate need of TLC.
This is where Supernatural Beauty comes in.

This isn't the first time I've mentioned Supernatural on my blog and it most certainly won't be the last!
I discovered Supernatural Beauty at the Bloggers Hangout LFW Event (here) recently and since I've come across them, I haven't been able to get enough! I also attended their exclusive store launch event in London and I am so impressed by Supernatural Beauty and everything they have to offer!

Supernatural Beauty specialises in all natural, all organic, luxury skincare products, which are created without all the hidden ingredients and misleading labels that a lot of products in the current beauty market have. It is a family-run business and I've said it before but I'll say it again - Jenny and Tyron (the co-founders of the brand) are some of the nicest people I've ever met and seeing how passionate they are about their products & their brand is so inspiring! I am genuinely so happy for them and how well they're doing !
You can read more about their story and how they developed their brand here

From the products to the packaging to the philosophy of the brand, Supernatural really stands out to me because of how transparent and truthful the brand is. The products do come with a luxury price tag, but you get exactly what you pay for, which is high quality & highly effective products and so many people have had such amazing results from using them - including improvement of scarring, age spots, sun spots, acne, eczema and inflamed skin!

Supernatural Beauty products are available on their own website, as well as in-store and online now at Content Beauty in Marylebone, London.
I think the brand has had an amazing journey so far, and I'm excited to see where the next step takes them!

LFW Beauty Essentials* | Bloggers Hangout

London Fashion Week has just gone by and I couldn't think of a better time to play around with a few new products - these are some of the Bloggers Hangout LFW Beauty Must Haves that I've been trying out over the last couple of weeks.

Skin Doctors is a brand which I've heard a lot of good things about, but haven't had too much experience with personally. I've tried a couple of depilatory products from them, which I found worked well for me, but I haven't dabbled in their skincare much, so when I was kindly sent a couple of their new launches, I was really excited to give them a go!

As I've been running low on my current cleansing product, the Skin Doctors pH Balancing Cleanser arrived in perfect time. Formerly known as the Skin Doctors Accelerating Cleanser, the pH Balancing Cleanser is an actively foaming product that gently cleanses and exfoliates the skin, leaving it free of make up, impurities and dead skin cells.
The cleanser contains 3 main active ingredients which help to revitalise and regenerate the skin:

  • Avocado Extract nourishes and moisturises the skin
  • Lactic Acid, which is a type of Alpha Hydroxy Acid. It has antibacterial, anti ageing and hydrating properties. This works by exfoliating the surface layers of dead skin cells to stimulate the cell renewal process.
  • Sodium Laureth Sulphate, which is a foaming agent extracted from coconuts, helps maintain a healthy pH balance of the skin, while deeply cleansing the skin
So far, I've really enjoyed using this cleanser, but I'll keep you posted on my thoughts!

*touch wood* I'm fairly lucky in the sense that my skin isn't usually prone to spots and inflammation, however, I think spot treatments are really important to have somewhere in your skincare drawer in case you ever need them! The Skin Doctors Zit Zapper is specifically designed to reduce swelling and redness overnight, with active ingredients such as Tea Tree, Witch Hazel, Salicylic Acid and Zinc Sulphate. The tea tree and witch hazel both have antibacterial properties, and are well known for assisting in the treatment of spots and inflammation, but the Zit Zapper treatment has added benefits. Salicylic acid helps to reduce follicle blockage, which allows excess oils, dead skin cells and bacteria to escape from underneath the skin, and the Zinc Sulphate has anti inflammatory properties and also helps to prevent and reduce scarring. The Zit Zapper itself comes in the form of a roll on, which is super fuss free to use.
If you suffer with blemishes or have skin that's prone to spots, it's a really good product to look into!

Urban Veda pride themselves in producing natural skincare including Ayurveda, which is based around a holistic knowledge of plants and the therapeutic properties they hold. The Purifying Body Scrub is made from a mixture of plant-based cleansers, botanical extracts and essential oils which are used to cleanse, moisturise and detoxify the skin. It also contains walnut shell powder and pumice, which work really well together to exfoliate the skin and get rid of dead skin cells. The scrub feels very natural and very fresh. It is very rich in antioxidants and also has various essential oils in it, including Neem Oil, Spearmint, Wild Mint, Witch Hazel and Eucalyptus. I'm pleasantly surprised as too how much I'm actually enjoying this scrub at the moment, and I'd definitely recommend looking into Urban Veda for natural skincare.

Batiste is so well known and so well loved as a brand and everyone always raves about how amazing their dry shampoos are...I hate to admit it, but I've never tried them! I have normal to dry hair, so I've never dabbled into dry shampoo and it always means I've never had the chance to dabble into Batiste as a brand.
That all changed very recently when I found out that Batiste now have a new 'Stylist' range! (I'm late to the bandwagon, I know)  If you're not familiar with the Stylist range, it includes a Frizz Tamer, XXL Plumping Powder, Texturizing Spray, Heat & Shine Spray and an XXL Volume Spray. My favourites are the XXL Volume Spray, which gives you all the oomph you need, and the Texturizing Spray, which is perfect for adding more shape and texture to the hair, and works very well to give you that sexy bed head/effortlessly tousled kind of look. For £4.49 a pop and cans that will last you for months on end, it's money well spent and totally worth a shot.

Is it perfume? Is it a phone case? Is it...both?

I had so many questions when I came across Perphone because it's unlike anything I had ever seen before! It's basically an iPhone case with interchangeable perfume cartridges and my mind was blown when I saw this - It's such a unique product. The Perphone comes with four different perfume cartridges called Brindille, Cantabelle, Journal Intimé and Songeries and they all smell beautiful!
What I love about this case is that it's so innovative and it's so sleek; it doesn't make your phone feel bulky at all. All you have to do is twist the cartridge and you're ready to spritz.

Your phone is something that you always carry with you, so having a perfume built into the case is so handy to have on the go!

The Wet Brush has become such an essential for me in my haircare routine! I have naturally very wavy hair which can tangle easily and it becomes really difficult to manage and the Wet Brush has made the process so much easier!
The brush has super thin Intelliflex bristles which are strong and flexible, and the brush just glides through the hair and really easily combs out the tangles. I have already noticed less breakage in my hair since I've been using this brush, and I love that it is designed to be used on wet and dry hair.
It's no secret that brushing wet hair can be really damaging, and using a wide tooth comb is a much better option, but the Wet Brush is designed to work on wet hair without causing damage or pulling on the hair, and it helps to detangle hair in the process.

I am obsessed with the new Sensationail Polish to Gel kit...obsessed.
If you know anything about me, you know that painting my nails isn't my forté - I'll spend ages trying to paint my nails, ages waiting them to dry and then as soon as I let my guard down, they chip or smudge and I just take the nail polish off out of frustration.
The new Polish to Gel kit by Sensationail is honestly a game changer! Painting my nails has never been so easy and the finished result is actually flawless. Everyone knows how expensive gel nails can be at the salon, but the kit makes it so easy to achieve the same results, without the massive price tag, in the comfort of your own home.
Usually, with gel nail kits, you would have to buy specific gel nail paints but the Polish to Gel kit allows you to create a gel manicure with any nail polish you already have, either by mixing the two together with the mixing method, or by curing the nails first then applying the top coat.
The kit comes complete with the UV Lamp and USB adapter, the Polish to Gel top coat, a Gel Primer, a Gel Cleanser, a nail stick, a nail file, lint free wipes and a mixing pot. I have been hooked!

I have really enjoyed trying out these LFW Beauty Must Haves!
Have you tried any of these products? What were your thoughts?

Disclaimer : This post contains PR samples. Anything marked with a * was either sent or gifted to me by companies to try out and possibly review. I only accept products that I think I will use, and that I only mention things that I would actually recommend to you. All opinions are 100% my own.

Bloggers Hangout | LFW Event 2016

A couple of weeks ago, I went down to the Provision Studios in Hoxton to attend a Bloggers Hangout event for London Fashion Week.

The event was literally buzzing; I met a lot of other bloggers and I discovered a lot of new brands that I hadn't come across before. There were mixture of beauty, food and healthy lifestyle brands showcased at the event and I thought I would share them with you. Here are a few.

ARK Skincare

ARK is a British skincare brand which uses natural active ingredients to treat skin by age and skin concern. The brand is very age aware, as they believe that different age ranges have different requirements for their skincare, on account of their internal and external structure (as well as hormone levels). Currently, ARK has product ranges specific to different age groups, varying from teens and 20s, 30's and 40s and 50s and above, and they have a vast variety of skincare products from moisturisers to cleansers and toners to exfoliating products and face masks. I'm particularly excited to try out their Skin Protector Primer with SPF30 and their ARK Pro Remove Pre Cleanse!

Supernatural Beauty

Another skincare brand which caught my attention was Supernatural Beauty. It was SO lovely to the co-founders of the brand, Jenny and Tyron, and I was super impressed by the products they had to offer. Skincare is so difficult to get right and I think that Supernatural Beauty has hit the nail on the head. I tried out the Righteous Body Butter and the Salvation Face Oil on the back of my hand and I can't even explain to you how good my skin looked and felt! The products are made using completely natural and organic ingredients and so many people have had such amazing results from using the Supernatural Beauty products - I can't wait to properly give them a go myself!

Naturigin

Moving on to haircare, I was really intrigued when I saw the Naturigin stall at the event as I had heard so many people raving about their completely natural hair colouring products throughout the day! When I went over to have a look myself, I discovered that they actually offer 19 different hair colours, which are 100% permanent. These hair colours are 100% Laurel Sulfate, Ammonia and Paraben free and contain a lot of natural essential oils to nourish and add shine to the hair. A lot of hair dyes can be so damaging, so it's really reassuring to know there is a brand out there which gives you great colour pay off and doesn't damage your hair in the process.

Crobar

Okay...so Crobar caught me completely off guard...I had to look twice. They are protein rich energy bars made with cricket flour (like..actual crickets)! At first, I didn't know what to think of it, because I would never have thought of eating crickets (even though I've heard a lot of people talking about how crickets are one of the new superfoods) but after a little bit of convincing, I tried a tiny piece of the Peanut and Cricket Flour bar. I was actually quite pleasantly surprised at how 'normal' it tasted.
Turns out, crickets are actually supposed to be amazing for you - they are a sustainable source of protein, high in protein and Vitamin B12 and low in fat. It's a little bit out of the ordinary, but the health and environment benefits speak for themselves!

Naturally Coconuts

Another healthy brand I came across was Naturally Coconuts, who specialise in natural, organic and vegan Coconut Based Ice Cream - this is such a good idea! A lot of people love ice cream, but with everyone being a lot more health conscious right now, it's a really good alternative and the ice creams come in a variety of flavours too; Sumptuous Strawberry, Raw Chocolate, Mint Choc Chip and Coconut Caramel.

Bluebird Tea Company

I also came across the Bluebird Tea Company, which loads of people always rave about! I do love a good cup of herbal tea and Bluebird have a lot of varieties (they refer to themselves as being tea mixologists, who create unique blends of tea) and they offer both, loose leaf and packaged tea.
I went away with samples of their Mojitea (cos I love a good mojito!), Strawberry Lemonade tea (which can I just say is delicious) and Dozy Girl tea, because I really struggle to switch off at night and I can't wait to brew up a cuppa!

Other brands

There were a lot of other interesting brands at the event including protein drinks brand uFit, herbal tea brand Miracle Tree and Thanks for Franks, who offers lots of yummy granola bar in various flavours. Popkakery and Pudology had some tasty samples for me to try and overall, the event was jam packed full of amazing brands and amazing products.
It was so lovely to meet so many people and learn about so many new brands; thank you to The Bloggers Hangout for organising such a a great event!
