Barry M | Spring 2016 Launch

So...something exciting happened... I was invited to the launch event for Barry M's new SS16 collection! The event was held at the beautiful St Martin's Lane Hotel, in Covent Garden and it was amazing. Although I've always been a bit lazy with nails, it's something I'm getting more into at the moment and Barry M has always been one of my go-to brands for nail polishes, so I was particularly excited to see what they have in store for Spring 2016*

 Gelly Nail Paints | £3.99

Gelly Nail Paints (L-R) : Cream Soda | Butterscotch Sundae | Pink Lemonade | Acai Smoothie
The Gelly Nail Paints are super long lasting on the nails and they honestly shine for days! The new collection contains 4 gorgeous pastel shades which I can't wait to wear on my nails.
The new collection is available now in Boots, and will be available in Superdrug from 10th February.

Sunset Nail Paints | £4.99

Sunset Nail Paints (L-R) : Daylight Curing Top Coat | Bug A Blue | All The Things She Red | Empire State of Mint | Pinking Out Loud
The Sunset Nail Paint collection is one of my favourites from Barry M, so when I saw the new collection, I basically died and went to heaven! The colours are divine! These daylight curing nail paints are a great alternative to gel/shellac nails, a lot more budget friendly and a lot less hassle, as you don't need a UV lamp. They are also super shiny and long lasting on the nails, and my favourite shades from the new collection are 'All The Things She Red' and 'Empire State of Mint'!
All you have to do is apply a couple of coats of your favourite colour, and then set it with a thin layer of the Sunset Daylight Curing Topcoat - simples.

The Spring 16 Sunset Nail Paint collection will be launching on the 10th of February in Superdrug and on the 17th of February in Boots.

Speedy Nail Paints | £3.99

Speedy Nail Paints (L-R) : Winning Streak | Freestyle |  In a Flash | Personal Best
As I mentioned before, I can be a bit lazy with my nails, so something that dries as quickly as the Speedy Nail Paints by Barry M is perfect for me. It dries within a few seconds and you don't have to worry about your nail polish smudging or smearing!
The new collection is already available in Superdrug and will be available in Boots from the 17th of February, and it contains 4 new pastel colours in the shades 'Winning Streak', ' In a Flash', 'Freestyle' and 'Personal Best'.

'Thats How I Roll' Mascara | £4.99

Barry M also have a few new launches in their make up collection.

First up, is the 'That's How I Roll' Mascara, which claims to be an eyelash curler and mascara in one!
I'm particularly intrigued to try this out because mascaras are something that I like to be experimental with. I don't have the longest natural lashes, so anything that claims to define and lengthen my lashes always catches my attention. The wand is designed to lift and roll the lashes to give them a more defined and curled look. I'm looking forward to trying this out.

Shape and Define Brow Kit (Medium) | £5.99

Shape and Define Brow Kit : Medium
Barry M already had a 'Medium to Dark' Shape and Define Brow Kit, but as part of their Spring 16 launch, they've now introduced the palette in 'Light to Medium'. The 3 step kit contains a brown powder shade, a light wax and a highlight shade to help shape, define and highlight the brows. It comes in a handy little compact, complete with a mirror, mini tweezers and a small applicator for the product, so it would be perfect to use on the go. The product will be launching on 10th February in Superdrug and 17th February in Boots.

Chisel Cheeks Contour Kit | £6.49

Chisel Cheeks Contour Kits | Left : Medium to Dark | Right : Light to Medium
Last, but not least, Barry M are now introducing a 'Medium to Dark' shade in their Chisel Cheeks Contour Kit. I have the original shade, and have been using it since it was first launched (I love it) but I'm interested to try out the darker bronzing, contour and highlight shades in the new palette, which may be more suited towards my complexion. Personally, I found that the original contour kit worked well for me, but I'm glad that Barry M are introducing a new shade which will be more suitable for darker skin tones.
Like most of the new collection, the new Chisel Cheeks Contour Kit will be available from 10th February in Superdrug and 17th February in Boots.

Finally, I just want to say a massive thank you to the Barry M team for inviting me to the event and for the amazing goody bag -  I'm so excited to play around with all the new products and I hope you're as excited about the Spring 16 Launch as I am!

Favourite Five | Maybelline

Whether it's food, fashion or makeup (it could literally be anything), it's very easy to get comfortable with things and we all have those brands that we tend to gravitate towards. In terms of makeup, the brands I use are pretty varied, so I got thinking and I thought I'd start a new brand focus series on my blog, highlighting five of my favourite products from a few of my favourite brands.

First up... let's talk about Maybelline!
L-R : The Nudes Palette | Fit Me Foundation in 220 | Eraser Eye Concealer in Nude | Lash Sensational Mascara | Brow Drama in Dark Brown

This is one of my go-to brands on the high street and most of the products in my Favourite Five are ones that I use on an every day basis. They are pretty much holy grail and I wish I had discovered them sooner.

'The Nudes' Palette | £9.99 (Currently £7.99) (here)
There are a lot of nude palettes out there, but 'The Nudes' palette by Maybelline is the one I reach for the most. Consisting of 12 shades, the palette contains a mixture of matte and shimmer shades, from creams to coppers, caramels to dark chocolate, and it's just the perfect every day palette. It's so versatile and the shades can take you from day to night, giving you a look as simple or as dramatic as you would like. I find myself reaching for this palette constantly!

Maybelline 'The Nudes' Palette

I cannot sing it's praises enough; this foundation is amazing! It's currently my go-to every day foundation and I wish I had discovered it sooner than I did. I've already reviewed the Fit Me Foundation (here), but in a nutshell, I'd say it's a medium coverage foundation which is definitely buildable. It gives you a dewy airbrushed finish while still looking like skin and it looks and feels very natural when I wear it. My Fit Me Foundation is in shade 220 Natural Beige, and it's a perfect match for my complexion.

The Eraser Eye concealer is another holy grail product which I use all the time, I've already worked my way through 2-3 of these and I will definitely be repurchasing once my current concealer runs out. I love it. I find that the eraser eye concealer just gives me the best coverage under my eyes and on blemishes, and it just makes the skin look brighter and a lot more radiant. If you're on the hunt for a good every day concealer and haven't tried it, I would definitely recommend this!

I've already seen countless people raving about how amazing this mascara is and I can't say I disagree - it works like a dream! The Lash Sensational helps lift the lashes from the roots and just gives a lot of length and volume without becoming clumpy. I alternative between mascaras, but this is definitely one I always go back to.

This is quite an unusual one for me, because I don't do anything to my brows. I have naturally full brows, and I don't use any products on my brows to fill them in. However, the Maybelline Brow Drama Sculpting Mascara is the only exception. I don't use this all the time, but if my brows are ever misbehaving or a little bit unruly, I like to brush them through with the Brow Drama, just to keep them tidy and to define them. I find that this product just makes my natural brows look a lot more put together and it looks very subtle when I do use it, which I love.

P.S. There is currently a 'Buy 1 Get 1 Half Price' offer across Maybelline and many other brands on the Boots website, which might be worth a look if you haven't seen it already.

I hope you enjoyed my first of many 'Favourite Five' posts : What are some of your favourite products by Maybelline?

Sephora Skincare | 101

Skincare is so important and sometimes, sadly, it's something that people tend to overlook. Recently, I've decided to up my skincare game and something which I have been generally obsessed with over the last year or so is sheet masks. Although there are companies who have started to sell them here in the UK, sheet masks are usually harder to get hold of, which is why I tend to pick up some of my favourites from Sephora whenever I'm abroad.
To my surprise, when I was in Dubai a few months ago, Sephora had introduced a couple of new products to their skincare range, so I decided to pick up a couple of each and I thought I'd give you a quick low down.

The Mask Collection
Lotus mask : Moisturising and soothing
Lingzhi mask : Anti ageing and smoothing
Ginseng mask : Toning and revitalising
Pomegranate mask : Anti fatigue and energising
Rose mask : Ultra moisturising and brightening
Pearl mask : Perfecting and brightening
Green tea mask : Mattifying and anti blemish
Honey mask : Nourishing and balancing

Types of masks
Sheet masks:
Sheet masks are what I actually went into Sephora for. They're full face fiber masks, which are soaked in a gel solution (depending on what your skin type is and which sheet mask you go for) and all you do is remove it from the packaging and apply it onto your face. I'm not going to lie to you, it looks kind of scary, but trust me, my skin honestly thanks me for it whenever I use one. I picked up the nourishing and balancing Honey mask, and the toning and revitalising Ginseng one, which are a couple of my faves!
Eye masks:
The Sephora eye masks are similar to the sheet masks, but they're cut to size for use under the eyes. These masks fit perfectly under the contour of your eyes and are used to refresh and revitalise the delicate skin around that area. It's kind of like putting cucumbers under your eyes, but it's fancy. Again, these masks come in all of the different formulas in the collection, so you can choose whichever one suits your needs the most. I decided to go for the Rose mask, to moisturise and brighten the area, and the Pomegranate mask, which is great for battling the look of fatigue.
Sleeping masks:
The sleeping masks might possibly be my new favourites. They're basically sheet masks, without the sheet! So essentially, it's the gel that the sheet masks are usually soaked in but they now come separate in their own little 8ml pots! I love these sleeping masks because they're so quick and easy to use and my skin loves to soak it in. Also, they're a lot more discrete to use (bear in mind that I like to travel with sheet masks so I can use them on long haul flights) and you don't look like a total zombie. To try them out, I picked up the Lotus sleeping mask, which is great for moisturising and soothing the skin, and the Pearl sleeping mask, which is used to even out the skin for a fresher and brighter look.

Overall, I'm obsessed with these masks. I love the variety! I think they work very well for my skin and they're inexpensive too! Have you tried any of these? What did you think?
