Autumn/Winter Beauty Staples

I've said it before, but I'll say it again: Autumn/Winter is my favourite time of the year! Whether it's the changing colours of the leaves on the trees, the leather jackets, chunky knits and cosy coats, or even the transition in my make up for deeper and darker shades; I am obsessed!

As I've already outlined my A/W Wardrobe Staples on my channel, it would have been rude not to run through some of my A/W Beauty Staples as well.

Here are some of my go-to's for this time of the year.

Eyes

If you follow me on my Instagram (Farheenxo), you may have noticed that I've really been feeling the love for a couple of new palettes in my collection. The first one isn't going to be a surprise to you, but I have truly been obsessed with the Zoeva Cocoa Blends Palette | £15.50 (mentioned here).  It's my current go-to and it consists of a mixture of 10 beautiful matte and shimmer shades which can take you from day to night. It's basically just Autumn in a palette. Another palette I've really been enjoying is the new Salted Caramel one by Make Up Revolution | £7.99. It's so beautiful! While it has some similar shades to the Cocoa Blends Palette, Salted Caramel has 6 more shades, including a beautiful teal and a dark forest green which are brilliant for a bolder look. The shades from both of these palettes are incredibly pigmented, buttery soft and a dream to blend with. To add a little more depth and definition to the looks, I've really been enjoying wearing my Red Cherry Lashes in 213 | £3.49, with the Eyelure Eyelash Glue | £4.95. Red Cherry lashes are hands-down my favourite at the moment, they give you so much oomph but they still look natural, which is why I love them. Teamed with the Eyelure Lash Glue in black, which dries black and looks like liquid liner, it's a winning combination and one that I constantly find myself reaching for.

Lips

I have a lot of lipstick loves this season (...which I will be doing a video on very soon!), but I really love statement vampy lips for this time of the year. Although there are a lot of contenders, my winner for the perfect dark, vampy, berry shade has got to be the Kiko Unlimited Stylo Lipstick in Shade 12 | £4.80. This lipstick ticks all of the boxes for me : the pigmentation and colour pay off is incredible, it dries to a matte finish which I love and for what it is, it is a total bargain. I have a couple of lippies from this collection, and if you haven't checked out the Unlimited Stylo range, I would highly recommend you to!

Skin

Ofcourse, with the colder months, my skin does require some extra TLC to battle how drying the weather is on it. My two go-to skincare saviours at the moment are the Skindrink Moisturiser from Lush | £12.95 and the Elizabeth Arden Original 8 Hour Cream | £26.00. With both of these products, I find that a little bit goes a long way and they make a huge difference in my skincare routine. I've got normal to dry skin, and with the change in the weather, it's been worse ... this is where Skin Drink comes in! It moisturises my skin and keeps it supple for longer, without making it at all greasy, and even though it doesn't smell like a bunch of roses, I love it and my skin really thanks me for it! I've been using this for months now and it's definitely an A/W skincare staple for me! Totally recommend this to anyone who has dry or dehydrated skin right now. The same goes for the Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream. Although it is expensive, it's money well spent and I find it being multipurpose really sells it for me. It makes an incredible lip balm, works very well on scarring and dry patches on the skin and it also helps to combat redness and minor irritations of the skin.  P.S.The Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour Cream is currently on offer - you can find it here!

Those were a handful of my Autumn/Winter Beauty Staples - what are yours?

Maybelline Fit Me Foundation | Review

Finding the right foundation can be a right mission, especially when you're shopping on the high street or in the drugstore ... the shade selection, the unflattering lighting in the shop, even the lack of testers or proper mirrors. That's why foundations are something that I'm experimental with.

After running out of my Maybelline Dream Fluid Flawless Nude Foundation in Shade 48 and becoming slightly bored of my beloved No7 Stay Perfect Foundation in Warm Sand, I thought it time to switch things up and head over to Boots or Superdrug to have quick nosey around the shelves. About half an hour (and a hand full of swatches later), I left with two new foundations : The Maybelline Fit Me Foundation and the new No7 Airbrush Away Foundation (but that's another post in itself)

I know I took my sweet time getting round to trying out this foundation but I have fallen in love! Why didn't I try this out sooner? The foundation glides onto my skin like a dream, gives me a medium but buildable coverage but still looks and feels like skin. It's perfect! I usually apply this with either my Fancy Witch Foundation Brush or my Zoeva Skin Finish Brush and I find that the gel formula of the Maybelline Fit Me Foundation applies seamlessly without leaving any streaks on the skin. It's really easy for it to look like you're wearing a lot of product on your face and for foundation to look cakey but this foundation doesn't do that - it just gives you a flawless airbrushed finish while still looking like skin.

I picked up the Maybelline Fit Me in Shade 220 Natural Beige, which is a medium toned/olive shade with dark yellow under tones and it matches my complexion perfectly. It has a dewy finish (without looking extremely shiny) and I find that it works for my naturally dry and dehydrated skin well. I don't feel the need to powder it down, but I'd definitely recommend it for longevity or for anyone with oiler skin. I find that it just enhances my complexion and makes my skin look super radiant and healthy and the foundation feels very natural and breathable on my skin.

For me, it's £7.99 well spent and I truly prefer it to some of the other drugstore foundations I've tried recently.

Boots currently have selected Maybelline products on offer for Buy 1 Get 1 Half Price - you can find the Fit Me Foundation here

Although the Fit Me range also offers concealers, I've heard some mixed reviews and am truly faithful to my Maybelline Eraser Eye Concealer in Nude. I've worked my way through 2-3 tubes of it and it's become one of my holy grail products since I discovered it. LOVE!

A couple of people who I've spoken to who have tried this foundation have mentioned that the Fit Me can sometimes oxidise after a while of wearing it, which makes the foundation look darker but I personally haven't experienced this.

Have you tried out the Maybelline Fit Me Foundation? What did you think of it?
